South African soprano, Linda van Coppenhagen, commenced her vocal studies in 2007 with Emma Renzi in Johannesburg. At the time, Linda van Coppenhagen was still employed full time as a High School language teacher.
In March 2011 she performed her first professional opera in Germany & Austria in the role of Dalinda in Händel´s opera Ariodante with the Baroque Ensemble „Cosi Facciamo“, directed by South African tenor and director, Kobie van Rensburg.
From August 2012 - July 2015 was engaged as a member of the soloist ensemble at Theater Vorpommern.
In the 2012/2013 season, she performed the roles and concerts; Gilda in Verdi´s Rigoletto, Zerlina in Mozart´s Don Giovanni, Exsultate Jubilate, Frühlingstimmen-Walzer by Johann Strauss.
In the 2013/2014 season, she sang the roles of Gretel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.
In a cooperation with Theater Vorpommern Ballet Company, she sang the soprano part in Mozart's Great Mass in C Minor, as well as in Bruckner's Te Deum.
In the 2014/2015 season, Linda van Coppenhagen sang the roles of Ännchen in Der Freischütz (Carl Maria von Weber), Laura in Der Bettelstudent (Millöcker) as well as Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart).
In July 2014 she sang the role of the Königin der Nacht (Queen of the night) in a production at the Leipzig Opera house, called Papageno spielt auf der Zauberflöte.
Since August 2015 she was engaged as a member of the soloists ensemble at the Oper Halle.
Her stage roles included Ännchen (Der Freischutz), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Frasquita (Carmen), Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte/The Magic Flute)(Mozart) as well as Lieschen in a scenic production of J.S. Bach's Kaffee Kantate.
In October 2017 Linda van Coppenhagen experienced the greatest joy of her life. She gave birth to her first child Lina Marie Sellier.
As concert singer, she had, amongst others, the following engagements:
She sang C.P.E. Bach´s Magnificat with the Bachorchester Mainz under the baton of Ralf Otto, as well as J.S. Bach´s Kantate Nr. 173 with Ton Koopman. In September 2011 she made a recording of Händel’s Messiah with conductor Michael Hofstetter and the Neumeyer Consort with "Oehms Classics". Further performances in 2011 included Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Munich Symphony Orchestra in the "Brunnenhof der Münchner Residenz", as well as Haydn´s Nelsonmesse with members of the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchester as well as Haydn's Stabat Mater.
Linda van Coppenhagen was a prize winner at the 22nd International Singing Competition "Schloss Rheinsberg" (2012) and one of 11 finalists in the 7th International Singing Competition "Festspielstadt Passau" (2011). In 2010 she won the national ATKV Muziqanto Classical Singing Competition in South Africa and understudied the role of Musetta in Puccini´s La Boheme with Opera Africa.
Linda van Coppenhagen holds a BA Psychology degree (current University of Johannesburg, 2004), a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (UNISA, 2006) and completed her Grade 8 Voice Practical (UNISA 2009, Cum Laude).
